The Chronicles of Narnia Is Returning With The Silver Chair

It’s official! The Chronicles of Narnia is returning! Deadline reports that the franchise will continue with its fourth installment, The Silver Chair, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis. TriStar, a division of Sony, will collaborate with The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company, and eOne on the film. The Life of Pi screenwriter David Magee will write the script.

The first film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, debuted in the year 2005. Its sequel, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian hit theaters three years later in 2008. Disney distributed both movies, which focused on the four Pevensie children. The third movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, came out in 2010. It only included the two youngest Pevensie children, Lucy and Edmund, and also introduced a character named Eustace Scrubb.

The news of a fourth installment might surprise some people, since the last movie came out six years ago. However, The Silver Chair does take place ten years later after the events in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The story focuses on Eustace Scrubb, the Pevensie children’s cousin, as he returns to the world of Narnia. This time, he brings his classmate, Jill Pole, with him. Aslan then asks them to find Prince Rillian, who is the rightful heir to the throne. He is also the son of King Caspian.

Will Poulter starred as Eustace Scrubb in the 2010 movie, but nothing is confirmed about whether or not he will be in the next installment. It is also unknown whether Liam Neeson will return to reprise his role as Aslan.
